Coalition Against Landmines (CALM)

Helping child survivors of war get rehabilitation & attend school

Home   What We Do   Projects   Partnership

In August 2023, CALM started a new project in Southern Ethiopia (in the city of Arbaminch) in collaboration with the Arbaminch Prosthetic Center to help child amputees get rehabilitation and attend school. More information will follow soon.

Moreover, studies are underway to start a new initiative in Amhara region (northern Ethiopia) to reach out to child survivors of war. While the Pretoria Agreement ended the brutal two year war in the Tigray region (which also involved the Amhara and Afar regions) in November 2022, another armed conflict is raging in Amhara region since April 2023; civilian deaths and injuries by drone strikes are being reported in the region.

In the past, CALM helped child landmine survivors in Tigray region (northern Ethiopia) through Project TG, and in South Sudan through Child Survivors of War (CSW), a nonprofit it helped found in the capital Juba.
